Eastman, Orin Forest (8 September 1889 - 9 September 1971)

Funeral services for Orin Forest Eastman, 82, of Neillsville, who died here September 9, were held Saturday, September 11, at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Lynn Cemetery.

Orin Eastman, the son of Charles and Clara (Toble) Eastman, was born September 8, 1889, in Chili. He moved with his family to a farm in the Town of Pine Valley and attended the Silver Crest School. He was married on June 21, 1921, in Neillsville, to the former Anna Mashin, who survives him. The couple farmed until 1954, when they moved to Neillsville. Mr. Eastman was employed at Neillsville High School and at the American Legion Hall before his last illness, which occurred about two years ago. He served on the Silver Crest School board for several terms and was an assessor for 10 years.

Pallbearers were: Oscar Behm, Arnold Yankee, John Swenson, Ben Dux, Tom Yndogliato, and Leo Pflughoeft. Mrs. Sarah Smigelski sang “Abide with Me” and “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me.” She was accompanied by Miss Eileen Zank.

Those from out of town who attended the services were Ed Mashin, Art Christen and Mr. and Mrs. John Greub of Humbird, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Gehrt of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. DeWayne Mashin and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mashin of Tomah, and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Wampole of Madison.
