Krejci, Alice (3 October 1907 - 10 September 1971)

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Krejci, 63, of Neillsville, who died September 10 in St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield, were held Monday, September 13, at 1:30 p.m. from the Neillsville United Church of Christ. The Rev. George E. Yons officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville Cemetery. The Georgas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Krejci, the daughter of William and Flora (Endicott) Rhead, was born October 3, 1907, at Alma Center. She was educated there and at Granton, where her parents later farmed. She did house work as a young woman. Her marriage to Thomas Krejci took place July 29, 1925, in Neillsville. Mr. Krejci died on February 2, 1964.

The Krejcis farmed in the Town of York until 1949, when they moved to Willard. Mrs. Krejci came to Neillsville after her husband’s death. She was employed for three summers at a resort at Land O’ Lakes and also worked at the Winnebago Children’s Home up to the time of her last illness. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and its Women’s Guild.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. David (Betty) Winkel of Granton and Mrs. Frank (Darlene) Celar of Willard; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Opal) Spangler and Mrs. Vern (Myrtle) Schoonover, both of Beloit; four brothers, Oakley, Elwin, John and Richard Rhead, all of Beloit; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Richard, John, Elwin, and Oakley Rhead, Jack Spangler and Bud Colwell. “Servant of God, Well done,” and “For all the Saints” was sung by Mrs. Sarah Smigelski. Accompanist was Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

Those who attended the services included Mr3. And Mrs. Jack Spangler, Mr. and Mrs. Oakley Rhead, Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Rhead, Mr. and Mrs. John Rhead, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rhead, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Colwell, and Jack Rhead, all of Beloit, Larry Rhead of Oregon, Mr. and Mrs. Rod McClaien of Black River Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Winkel of Oshkosh, Mr. and Mrs. Michael D. Winkel of Auburndale, Mr. and Mrs. David Winkel, Jackie, and Gina Winkel and Mr. and Mrs. George Hales of Granton, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Celar of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Winkel of San Antonio, Tx., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meier and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carsen of York.

Many friends from Granton, Loyal, Greenwood, Willard, Humbird, and Neillsville also attended the services.
