Humke, Laura (26 October 1888 - 11 September 1971)

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) from Immanuel United Church of Christ at Braun Settlement for Mrs. Arthur Humke, who died early Saturday at her home. The Rev. Pacifico Camarin, pastor, will be in charge; burial will be made in Immanuel Cemetery.

The service was held up pending notification of a son, Elmer, who was on a hunting trip in Canada and who was not immediately available. He still had not been contacted at the time of the service was set; but it was hoped that notification might each him in time to return to Greenwood. He was hunting with a group from the Greenwood area.

Mrs. Humke, who died in her sleep at her home on Rt. 2, Greenwood, was a lifelong resident of the Greenwood area. She was born October 26, 1888, in the Town of Mead, daughter of of August and Louise (Kotzar) Noah. On October 2, 1913, she was married in the Town of Mead to Arthur T. Humke, who died May 31, 1960. After their marriage the Humke’s lived on a farm four miles northwest of Greenwood, where Mrs. Humke had made her home since. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and of its Woman’s Guild.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters: Mrs. Norman (Bernelda) Liebzeit, Mrs. John (Loriena) Lindner, Eldore and Elmer, all of the Greenwood area. There are seven grandchildren.
