Dassow, Lorain M. (Olson) (21 MAY 1925 - 8 JAN 2014)

Lorain M. Dassow, 88, Town of Greenwood, died on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at her home. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey, with Rev. Randal Jeppesen officiating.

Interment was at Chelsea Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were Josh Thorson, Billy Mundt, David, Dennis and Donald Hart, Paul Salzwedel and Larry Schreiner.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Lorain Olson was born on May 21, 1925 in Chelsea to the late Adolph and Minnie (Rehbein) Olson. She attended Chelsea area schools.

On November 20, 1943 in Whittlesey, she married Elmer H. Dassow, who preceded her in death on October 2, 1982. She took care of the family dairy farm in the Town of Greenwood while being a mother and housewife.

She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, her animals, gardening, canning, baking, cooking, knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by a son, Norm (Judy) Dassow of Medford; a daughter, Ruth (fiancé John Schilling) Dassow of Dorchester; a son-in-law, Beryl Hart of Loyal; seven grandchildren, Gina (Josh) Thorson, Katie (fiancé Billy Mundt) Dassow, David (significant other Ursula Smith) Hart, Rose (Paul) Salzwedel, Dennis Hart, Rita (Larry) Schreiner and Donald (Lori) Hart; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Hart in 2012; two brothers, Leonard and Albert Olson; and two sisters, Annie Marchart and Esther Bergerson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name to Trinity Lutheran Church.
