Franz, Augusta (4 NOV 1878 - 9

Mrs. Augusta Franz, nee Augusta Decker, daughter of the late
Henry and Sophia Decker, was born Nov. 4, 1878 in the Town of Warner (Clark Co.,
Wis.) on what is now the Wm. Goeke farm. Here she received her education and
grew to womanhood.
On April 13, 1898 she was united in marriage to Henry
Franz at the West Side Reformed Church. They resided on a farm 4 1/2 miles
northwest of Greenwood until 1947, when they went to live with their son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bolf. Mr. Franz passed away on June 26, 1949.
To this union were born eleven children, a daughter passed away in infancy.
The others are: Mrs. Harvey (Martha) Schwarze and Mrs. Henry (Minnie) Laube,
Owen; Theodore, McMinnville, Oregon; Emil, Quicius, Montana; Oscar, Greenwood;
Mrs. Dave (Selma) Churkey, Owen; Mrs. Theodore (Arvilla) Wessel, Edwin, Leando
and Mrs. Mike (Meta) Bolf, all of Greenwood.
Mrs. Franz was a member of
the West Side Evangelical and Reformed Church, and its Ladies Aid.
Mrs.
Franz passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield on Jan. 9, 1953, at 5:00
p.m., having reached the age of 74 years, 2 months and 5 days. She entered the
hospital on Dec. 30, 1952.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan.
14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Mike Bolf home and at 2:00 p.m. from the West Side
Church. Rev. Charles Koch officiated. She was laid to rest in the west Side
Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Alvin Brick, Walter Schwarze, Orlin
Schwarze, Guy Richmond, Ewald Schwarze, Norman Geisler.
During the
services the Senior Choir sang "Ivory Palaces" and "Sicher Am Goldnen Strand."
Mrs. Franz is survived by the above named children, 19 grandchildren, 5
great-grandchildren, and a brother, Alfred Decker of Coeur 'd Alene, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, three sisters
and five brothers.
