Meyer, Leo M. (22 MAR 1896 - 27 FEB 1953)
Leo M.
Meyer, prominent business and civic leader of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), passed
away at his home at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, 1953, following an illness of
several months. He was postmaster at Loyal since Feb. 24, 1933, and held an
office in the National League of District Postmasters.
Mr. Meyer was born
March 23, 1896 in Neillsville, and received his education there. He operated a
business at Bloomer and went to Loyal, where he operated a dry cleaning firm. He
was married to Veronica Kelbourn on July 14, 1920 at Loyal.
He is
survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Milton (Joan) Knack, a son, Allen, one
grandchild and a brother, William Meyer, all of Loyal; and a sister, Mrs. Elsie
Lambert, Neillsville.
A Requiem Mass was read on Monday, March 2nd at
9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and he was laid to rest in the
parish cemetery. Father Norbert King officiated.
