Turnquist, Mr./Mrs. Adolph (Gold - 3 JUN 1953)
On Sunday, May 31,
1953 Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Turnquist celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary
at Our Savior's Lutheran Church parlors. June 3rd was the date, but it was
celebrated earlier because of guests attending.
On June 3, 1903 Adolph
Turnquist and Julia Hendrickson were united in marriage at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hendrickson by the Rev. M.E. Church. The
attendants, were Sophia Hendrickson, a half-sister of Mrs. Turnquist, now Mrs.
Sophia Davis of Charleston, Wash., and David Gustafson, deceased. Mrs. Davis was
present at the celebration this year.
Mr. Turnquist was born in Sweden on
June 13, 1872 and Mrs. Turnquist was born in Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) on Feb.
19, 1881. They have four daughters, Mrs. Erick (Helen) Axelson, Chicago; Mrs.
Paul (Vera) tell, Palatine, Ill.; Mrs. Jerome (Ruth) Bertz, Loyal, and Mrs. John
(Verdelle) Felix, Greenwood, and four grandchildren, William and Paula Tell and
Douglas and Bruce Felix.
The Turnquists have resided in and around
Greenwood since their marriage and for 28 years on the same farm northeast of
here.
A dinner was served at Our Savior's Lutheran Church here. A
three-tiered wedding cake with white icing and gold flowers centered the
couple's table. A bouquet of yellow roses a gift of Mrs. Turnquist's sister,
Mrs. Helen Campbell of Lewiston, Idaho, and a bouquet of yellow carnations and
white snapdragons, a gift of the grandchildren, also decorated the tables.
The couple received a purse of money and many gifts, cards and five
telegrams, one from Stan and Ida Brey of Australia.
