Noetzel, Ambrosia (Tours Japan - 1953)
Miss Ambrosia Noetzel, who teaches
at San Bernardino, Calif., daughter of Mrs. C.M. Noetzel of this city, is one of
a group of twenty who are taking a tour of Hawaii, Manila, Hong Kong and four
weeks in Japan, taking in the interesting sights in Tokyo, Kobe, Hiroshima,
Kyoto, Mar, Yokohama and other places.
The group is traveling via
American President Lines on the S.S. Cleveland to Japan, and will return on the
S.S. President Wilson. They will return Sept. 1st to Los Angeles, just in time
for school.
Miss Noetzel reports in a letter received by the Gleaner,
that a professor from San Francisco State College is the leader and if the group
attend the very interesting lectures on board ship they will get six college
credits.
The group spent two days in Hawaii and had the pleasure of a
swim at the Waikiki Beach. They also spent two days in Manila and two days in
Hong Kong and four weeks in Japan.
Miss Noetzel also reports that there
are about 300 first class passengers from all over the county on board. The boat
serves excellent meals and has a swimming pool.
Her letter to us was
mailed on June 29 at 5:30 p.m. in Honolulu, Hawaii (air mail) and reached us
Thursday, July 2nd in the morning mail.
