Gosar, Frank (12 NOV 1888 - 25 JUL 1953)

Frank Gosar, 64, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, of a stroke on Saturday, July 25, 1953.

Frank Gosar, son of Frank and Mary (Kusar) Gosar, was born Nov. 12, 1888 in Smartina near Ljubljunis, Yugoslavia. In 1906 he came to America and lived in Waukegan, Ill. until 1913, when he came to his present farm home near Greenwood.

On Jan. 17, 1909 he was united in marriage to Mary Remzgar at Mother of God Catholic Church in Waukegan.

A solemn high mass was read at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard, with the Rev. John Novak, celebrant, and the Rev. Augustine Svete and Rev. Benno, assisting. He was laid to rest in the parish cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Anthony, at home, and seven daughters, Mrs. Frank (Mary) Artac, Greenwood; Sister M. Antonia (Frances), Stevens Point; Mrs. John F. (Sophie) Trunkel, Willard; Mrs. Ignatz (Anna) Sladich, Greenwood; Mrs. John (Julia) Kuznacic, Chicago; Cecelia, Neillsville and Angeline, at home. He is also survived by four brothers: Tony and Valentine, Waukegan, Ill.; Louis, Cleveland, Ohio; and August in Yugoslavia, and two sisters, Angeline and Johanna, in Yugoslavia. Thirteen grandchildren also survive him.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one son, Frank, two brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers were Ludwig Perushek, John Kutzler, Cyril Rakovec, Stanley Volovsek, Anton Trunkel Sr. and Phillip Seliskar.

Mr. Gosar was one of the two men who worked under Mr. Wallace Landry through the towns of Eaton and Hendren to start the R.E.A. He was a director of the Greenwood Milk Products Co-op for a large number of years, was both secretary and treasurer of the Catholic Hall in Willard, trustee at the Holy Family Church in Willard, and also for the Holy Family Society of K.S.K.J., and was also a former officer of the Waukegan branch of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He played a large part in the building of the church rectory and parish hall in Willard, and was very active in church and community affairs.

He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Holy Family Society of K.S.K.J. since 1925. He was also a charter member of the Waukegan branch of the Catholic Order of Foresters, having been a member since 1907.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John Kurnacic, Chicago; Mr. Louis Gosar, Cleveland, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Gosar, Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Gosar, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dolence, Mr. and Mrs. James Dolence, Mrs. John Koncan, Waukegan, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Remzgar and son, Mrs. John Jansa, Sr. and Mr. Stanley Jansa of North Chicago, Ill; Rev. John Novak, Junction City, Sister M. Antonia, Stevens Point, and Miss Cecelia Gosar, Neillsville.

Out of town friends also attended from Cleveland, Ohio; Chicago and Bensenville, Ill.; Milwaukee, Marshfield, Neillsville, Owen, Thorp and Loyal.
