Davis, Sarah

Mrs. Sarah Davis, 88, passed away at her home
in Granton early Thursday morning, Nov. 19, 1953. Her death was the result of a
complication of ailments.
Funeral services were held at the Gilbertson
Funeral Home, Granton at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. R.J. Trobaugh, pastor of
the Methodist Church, Marshfield, officiated. She was laid to rest in the
Windfall Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis, nee Sarah Smith, was born on July 22, 1865
in Hinebinbrook, Ontario Province, Canada, and moved to Black River Falls with
her parents when she was 6 years of age. Three years later the family moved to
Gile Creek, north of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), where her father purchased a
farm. A son still operates the same farm.
She is survived by one son,
Smith Davis, Glen Ellyn, Ill., four daughters, Ora, at home; Mrs. Ray (Maria)
Mortimer, Town of York; Mrs. Dale (Amerinth) Lee, and Mrs. F. (Florence) Fox,
Marshfield; one brother, Mark Smith, Greenwood; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Vine,
Janesville; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren.
