Tomlinson, Margie (17 August 1890 - 15 October 1971)

Funeral services for Mrs. Margie A. Tomlinson, 81, of Rt. 3 Neillsville, who died October 15, were held Monday, October 18, at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Tomlinson, the daughter of George Washington Carter and the former Eliza Rame, was born August 17, 1890, in Graceson County, Ky. She was educated there as a young girl. Her marriage to Lawrence Tomlinson took place July 1, 1908, in Olney, Ill. The Tomlinsons farmed at Mt. Pulaski, Ill., until 1923 when they moved to Willard and farmed there until 1943. At that time they moved to West Allis. They retired in 1953 and moved to the Christie area.

The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1958. Mr. Tomlinson died in 1959. For the last 11 months Mrs. Tomlinson had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Peter Strangfeld.

Survivors include two sons, Homer Tomlinson of Campbellsport and Jesse Tomlinson of Greenwood; two daughters, Mrs. Peter (Pauline) Strangfeld of Rt. 3, Neillsville, and Mrs. Lester (Violet) Ross of Osseo; a sister, Mrs. Orville (Maude) Smith of Oakley, Ill.; and 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Tomlinson were her grandsons: Arthur and Ronnie Tomlinson, Arnold, L., Byrl, and Robert Strangfeld and George Ross. Mrs. Eugene Smigelski sang “Softly and Tenderly” and “Be Still, My Soul.” She was accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

Those who attended the services from out of town included: Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Tomlinson, Mike Tomlinson, Mrs. Leota Murphy, and Mr. and Mrs. John Howard, all of Greenwood; Homer Tomlinson and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tomlinson and family, Campbellsport; Mrs. Lester Ross, Mrs. Larry Burlum and Larry Ross, Osseo; Miss Dawna Mae McCrady and Mrs. Maude R. Smith, Oakley, Ia.; Mrs. Robert Gruel and Mrs. Brua Christianson, Hampshire, Ill.; Mr and Mrs. Dale Ross, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Strangfeld and family, Racine; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Strangfeld and family, Kenosha; Mr and Mrs. Ronald Tomlinson and family, Waukesha; Miss Jean McCrady and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warzynski and family, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Ida Smith, Elkhart, Ill.
