Henchen, Arnold Hugo (30 October 1893 - 26 October1971)

Funeral services for Arnold Hugo Henchen, 77, who died in Neillsville Tuesday, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff will officiate and burial will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Henchen, the son of Bruno Henchen and the former Amelia Schultz, was born October 30, 1893, in Clark County. He was educated in Neillsville Schools. He entered World War I July 13, 1918, and served in France. He was discharged at Camp Grant on February 22, 1919. He served with Battery B., 44th Artillery as a private.

His marriage to Helen Schroeder took place November 5, 1919, at Globe. He farmed most of his lifetime. He was on the board of the old Farmers Union Shipping Association for many years. He served as supervisor for the Town of Weston and chairman of the Town of Pine Valley. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Men’s Club, and of Haugen Richmond Post, No. 73, American Legion.

Survivors, besides his wife, include: five sons, Herbert, Leo, Wilbert, Raymond and Edward, all of Neillsville; a daughter, Julia also of Neillsville; three sisters, Clara, of Neillsville, Mrs. John (Freda) Martin of Humbird, and Mrs. Joe (Elsie) Turenne, of Thorp; a brother, Ervin of Princeton, Mn.; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Arnold H. Henchen, 77, of Rt. 21 Neillsville, who died October 26, were held Friday, October 29, at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: James, Bruce, Charles, Louis and Robert Henchen and Thomas Schaub. Mrs. Harold Mayer sang “For Me to Live is Jesus” and “I’m But a Stranger here.” She was accompanied by Victor Lehmann.

Those from out of town who attended the services included: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Schaub of Green Bay, Mrs. Agnes Henchen of Osseo, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Turenne of Thorp, Mr and Ms. Ervin Henchen of Princeton, Mr. and Mrs. John Martin of Humbird, Paul Bartell of Wisconsin Rapids, and Mr and Mrs. Robert Henchen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Henchen, Butch Henchen, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Diercks and Mr. and Mrs. Andy Djubenski and Dennis, all of Greenwood.
