Schwellenbach, Doris Jane (8 June 1920 - 14 January 2014)
Doris Jane
Schwellenbach, 93, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, surrounded by her
four children.
Doris was born June 8, 1920, in Eau Claire to the late
Alexander and Julia (Myrvold) Coffin. She married Arne Schwellenbach Oct. 20,
1944, on a beautiful sunny day. He remained the love of her life, and they are
now reunited for all eternity. Doris graduated from Neillsville High School and
went on to work in a dental office, then moved to Milwaukee and worked at an
ammunition plant for the war effort. After her marriage in 1944, she became a
full-time homemaker who provided a warm, welcoming home for her family and
friends. One of her passions was baking and families and friends always
benefitted from that passion when visiting her home.
Doris was a member
of Grace Lutheran Church and volunteered there for many years. She also
volunteered with her lively sister Ruthie at the Center of Care. The two of them
were best friends and always there for each other and each other’s families.
Doris is survived by children: Joe (Kris) Schwellenbach of Winter, Mary
(Bob) Fiene of Chisago City, MN, Linda Farley of Minneapolis, MN, and Tom
(Dorie) Schwellenbach of Altoona; 22 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a sister, Ruthie Solie of Eau Claire; a brother, Wayne
“Bud” (Rose) Coffin, Sioux Falls, SD; sisters-in-law, Ione Clark and Bev
Schwellenbach of Beloit, and Judy Schwellenbach of Durand; and many loving
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53
years, Arne Schwellenbach; a sister, Gen, and her husband, John Childs; her
brother, Stan Coffin, and his wife, Marion; brothers-in-law, DeWayne Solie and
Myron Clark; and brothers-in-law, Wallace and Clyde Schwellenbach.
