Greenwood (11 November 1971)

The Senior Citizens of the Greenwood area will meet this (Thursday) evening at 7 o’clock in the Clark Electric auditorium. Election of officers will be held. Pete Jung of the Social Security Department in Wausau will speak. A lunch will be served by Mrs. Florence Schwarze, Mrs. Viv Carteron and Mrs. Hazel Helwig.

Mr. and Mrs. A. ;M. Strommen of Spooner and her mother, Mrs. Alma Mason, spent Thursday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thompson of Thorp, formerly of Greenwood.

The Clark County Council for Retarded Children will meet in the Greenwood Elementary School at 8:30 p.m. this (Thursday) evening.

The postponed meeting of the Jolly Homemakers club will be held this (Thursday) evening at 8 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Vern Henaman.

The American Lutheran Church women will meet in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. This is a week earlier than usual. Hostesses will be Mrs. William Kavanaugh, Mrs. Orlando Kind and Mrs. Otto Kind, Jr.

The Women’s Society of Christian Service met Friday afternoon in Grace United Methodist Church. Mrs. Robert Clintsman, vice president, presided. It was reported that three boxes and a bag of infants’ and children’s clothing have been sent to David Antrim for distribution at orphanages in Vietnam. David, who is stationed there, is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Eugene Antrim.

Mrs. Antrim is organizing prayer groups for the Advent Season, the first meeting to be held at the parsonage November 30 at 10 a.m. The group plans to serve the Rotary dinner November 18.

Mrs. Effie Swieso, program chairman, introduced Miss Ruth Verhulst, retired missionary, who spoke on her 18 years of missionary work in Malaysia.

The next meeting will be held December 10 with installation of officers. A potluck lunch will be served.

Following the meeting a lunch was served by Mrs. Wilbur Stewart and Mrs. Kenneth Stafford.
