Blackhawk, Andrew (10 October
1886 - 15 November 1971)
Military and Indian committal rites for Andrew
Blackhawk, 85, of Neillsville, who died November 15 in the Veteran’s
Administration Hospital at Madison, were held Thursday, November 18, at 2 p.m.
at the Decorah Indian Cemetery near Hatfield.
Andrew Blackhawk was born
October 10, 1886, at Winona, Minn. He was a veteran of World War I and a past
member of VFW Post No. 1868 at Marshfield and of the Winnebago Veteran’s
Association.
His marriage to the former Lucy Wilson took place September
20, 1919 at Wittenberg. She died July 13, 1969.
Survivors include five
children, Mrs. Adelaide Redeagle of Neillsville, Mrs. Gerold (Margaret) Olson of
Aurora, Il, Mrs. Earl (Virginia) Smith of Cambria, Donald Blackhawk of St. Paul,
Mn, and Gloria S. Rodriguez of Chicago, Il; and 30 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
