Greeler, Minnie J. (10 September 1884 - 26 November 1971)

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles (Minnie J) Greeler, 87, of Memorial Home, who died November 26, were held Tuesday, November 30, at 2 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Greeler, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Schwantes, was born September 10, 1884, in the Town of Unity, near Spencer, and was educated in area schools. Her marriage to Charles Greeler took place October 4, 1904, in Spencer. The couple farmed in Clark County for many years. Mr. Greeler died on December 28, 1957.

Mrs. Greeler, who was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and a charter member of its Ladies Aid Society, entered Memorial Home in August of 1969. She also was a member of the Good Neighbors Homemakers club.

Survivors include a son, Erwin Greeler of Rt. 1 Neillsville; a sister, Mrs. William (Linda) Naedler, Sr., of Granton; three brothers, Roy Schwantes of Owen, Harry Schwantes of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Art Schwantes of Minneapolis, Minn.; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Ruben Pocket, Alvin Schwantes, William Naedler, Jr., Ed Greeler, Alvin Lavene and George Greeler. St. John’s school children sang “Asleep in Jesus” and “Abide, O Dearest Jesus,” accompanied by Victor Lehmann.

Naedler, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Bass, Mrs. Otto Anding, Mr and Mrs. Dale Tyler, Mrs. Arno Guk, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Tyler and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Walter, all of Granton; Mr and Mrs. Ruben Pocket, Marion; Mrs. Ervin Schmidt, Stratford; Mrs. Marlyn Vergut, Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Greeler, Wisconsin Rapids; Arthur Schwantes, Minneapolis, Mn.; Rev. and Mrs. Arnold Beawer, West Bend; Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Hahn, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Schwocho, Wausau; and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Schwantes, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Schwantes, Mr. and Mrs. George Greeler, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Manthe and Mrs. Emil Schwantes, all of Marshfield.
