Jordan, Louis (30 May 1877 - 4 December 1971)

Louis Jordan, 94, retired Greenwood farmer, died December 4, at the Havenett Nursing Home in Owen, where he had lived the last five years.

Mr. Jordan, son of Andrew and Anna Jordan, was born May 30, 1877, in Yugoslavia. He came to Cleveland, O., on October 12, 1901, and worked there and in Chicago. He was married at Frontenac, Ks., February 6, 1906, to Theresa Ratiz.

After working in coal mines in Frontenac for 14 years they came to Greenwood in 1918 and farmed a mile west of Greenwood until August 1945, when they moved to the city of Greenwood. He operated filling stations at Greenwood and Withee for several years. Mrs. Jordan died March 8, 1964. Mr. Jordan was a member of the Slovenian National Benefit Society.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Martin (Josephine) Ryona of Withee and Mrs. Frank (Rose) Arch of Greenwood; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood with the Rev. Leander Koopman officiating. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tony Gosar, Cyril Rakovec, Joseph Gregorich, Edward Gregorich, Ignatz Sladich and Louis Kebl.
