He was united in marriage to Anna Wehrman on June 14,
1894. She passed away in 1912.
In March 1914 he was married to Anita Garovi, who passed away in 1920.
On May 14, 1922 he was married to Ella Christie Hemp, who survives.
Mr. Buker was Mayor of the City of Greenwood from 1914 to
1918 and again from 1928 to 1940 and was an Alderman for a number of years.
He also held the office of Deacon and Elder of the Evangelical and
Reformed Church of which he was a member.
He passed away at his home at 5 p.m. on Tuesday,
February23, 1954 after having been in poor health for several months.
Funeral services were held at the Zion Evangelical and
Reformed Church at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 26th.
The Rev. Charles Koch officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood
Cemetery.
During the service Mrs. Daniel Olson and Robert Unger
sang “Abide With Me” and “Ivory Palaces” accompanied by Miss Beatrice Busch at
the organ.
The pallbearers were his six nephews: George, Irvin,
Theodor and Walter Buker and Arno and Wm. Decker.
Mr. Buker is survived by his wife Ella, a son Arthur C.
Buker, a sister Mrs. Henry Decker, five grandchildren and five great
grandchildren.
A son Orlando, a daughter, two brothers, Fred and George and a sister Mrs. John Steiger preceded him in death.
