Pfalzgraf, Margene E. (16 JAN 1965)
Pure
silk organza appliqued with imported Chantilly lace fashioned the wedding gown
of Miss Margene Ellen Pfalzgraf of Abbotsford as she became the bride of Douglas
James Bergstrom, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), on Saturday, Jan. 16th, 1965.
The four o'clock wedding was performed by the Rev. Sprengler in the Christ
Lutheran Church in Abbotsford, to which over three hundred guests witnessed the
nuptial vows. Baskets of white and lavender mums adorned the altar. Arlyn Mills
sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "O Perfect Love," accompanied by the organist,
Robert Benson.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pfalzgraf of
Abbotsford, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bergstrom, Owen.
When given in
marriage by her father, the bride's lovely wedding gown featured a striking
empire bodice with the new "A: silhouette floor length skirt. The Watteau train
was detachable. From her princess crown of pearls, a bouffant veil billowed. She
carried a crescent of three cymbidium orchids and stephanotis entwined with ivy.
Mrs. Alfred Otto, Jr. of Chippewa Falls, was the matron of honor in an
amethyst velveteen floor length gown. A satin waist inset pointed up the satin
train in back embellished with soutache embroidery. A matching Dior bow and
bustle veil completed the ensemble. Flowers were crescent of French Heather and
white roses and ivy. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Kenneth Pfalzgraf of Clovis, New
Mexico, a sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Kathleen Pfalzgraf of Kenosha, a
cousin. They were attired in identical costumes as the matron of honor. James
Pfalzgraf of Abbotsford, the bride's brother, was the best man. Brothers of the
bride and groom, John Pfalzgraf of Eau Claire and Randall Bergstrom of Owen were
groomsmen.
Serving as ushers were Alfred Otto Jr., of Chippewa Falls, and
Norbert Pabish of Owen.
A dinner was held at the church immediately after
the wedding. The bride's colors of white and lavender were repeated on the
tables with the white roses, carnations and French Heather centerpieces. The
large tiered cake was displayed in front of the bride and groom at head table.
A reception was held at the Meadowview Country Club that evening, one of the
largest receptions in attendance to be served there.
The bride, a
graduate of the Abbotsford High School and Stevens Secretarial School, is office
manager of Medo Farms Dairy, Inc., Abbotsford. The groom, a graduate of the
Owen-Withee High School, attended the University of Wisconsin, after which he
returned home to be affiliated with his father in the Bergstrom Oil Company,
Inc. His present position is general Manager of the company. The newlyweds,
after a wedding trip which took them to Scottsdale, Ariz., will be at home at
102 Second Street, Colby, Wis.
