Pawlicki, Joseph Andrew (23 May 1917 - 29 January 2014)

Joseph A. Pawlicki, age 96, of Thorp, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monay, February 3, 2014, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Rev. Madanu Sleeva Raju officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Dan Boie, Mike Boie, Dave Kroeplin, James Bielecki, Jason Bielecki, Ryan Pawlicki, and Jeff Pawlicki. Visitation was held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Joseph Andrew Pawlicki was born on May 23, 1917, in The Town of Roosevelt, rural Thorp, to Anton and Mary (Kaszinowska) Pawlicki. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at area schools. After completing his education, Joe worked in the 3669th Co. CCC Camp out of Fairchild for a few years. He was united in marriage to Sophie M. Siudak on April 8, 1942, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. In addition to operating a dairy farm, Joe worked as a mechanic at Schmidt Chevrolet in Thorp, Hofkes Chevrolet in Stanley, Gilman Tractor in Gilman, and later at Ray’s Body Shop in Thorp until 2008. He resided at home until entering Oakbrook Nursing & Rehab in 2010. He was a lifetime member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

In his spare time, Joe enjoyed tinkering and fixing any kind of motor and loved listening and dancing to polka music.

He is survived by his wife, Sophie, of Thorp; one daughter, Marcie (Dale) Boie of Thorp; one son-in-law, Joseph Bielecki of Thorp; one daughter-in-law, Carol Pawlicki of Thorp; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Raymond Pawlicki, in February 2008; his daughter, Theresa Bielecki, in April 2013; one grandson, Douglas Pawlicki, in January 1990; three brothers: Alois, Edmund, and Klenensa in infancy; and four sisters: Wanda Sandel, Clara Gunia, Lottie Losiewicz and Julia Pawlicki.
