Eddy, Jeffrey R. (15 December 1954 - 30 January 2014) With Flag
Jeffrey R. Eddy, 59, of Merrillan passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014,
at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
Jeffrey was born Dec.
15, 1954, in Black River Falls, to Roy and Geneive “Jenny” (Butterfield) Eddy.
He grew up and attended school in Merrillan before moving to Minneapolis, MN.
While in Minneapolis, he worked as a steel worker for a short period of time
before joining the United States Army. Following the service, Jeffrey moved back
to Merrillan and began working for Jim Spiegel of Neillsville, then Opelt
Brothers, also of Neillsville. Jeffrey enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseshoes,
shuffleboard, darts, pool, softball and having a good time. He was a member of
the American Legion Post #140 of Merrillan.
Jeffrey is survived by his
companion, Barb of Merrillan; mother, Jenny Eddy of Merrillan; sisters, Brenda
(Jerry) Manthey, Pamela (Randy) Brown and Kathy Zimmerman, all of Merrillan;
many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by
his father, Roy; and brother, Ricky Eddy, Sr.
A memorial service, with
military honors, was held Monday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist
Church, Merrillan. Reverend Meg Erickson officiated. Visitation for family and
friends was held from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Honorary
pallbearers were Chris and Kyler Abbott, Jeff Peterson, Alex Hawkins, Mike
Garber, Steve Wyss, Steve and David Eddy and Joe Holmen.
