Greenwood (9 December 1971)

Mr. and Mrs. Les Burmeister and Mrs. Frank Svigel of Milwaukee spent the weekend at the James Zallar and Frank Pakiz homes.

Mr. and Mrs. David Pakiz, Becky and Michael, of Superior spent from Wednesday until Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pakiz and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gardner.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Arch, Jr., and family have moved from the Jordan house on Begley Street onto the former Bauer farm two miles northeast of Greenwood, which they purchased recently.

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Kuester and children, Delores and Billy, were supper gusts Sunday of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Catlin, in Loyal.

Guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Kaltinger were Mr. and Mrs. George Mathes and children, Glen, mary, and Jim, of Wauwatosa.

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Albright and son, Tom, and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Albright of Wausau attended the silver wedding anniversary celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pakiz.

Thanksgiving weekend guest at the Harry Plunkett home, were their children, Mr. and Mrs. George Plunkett and family of Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Plunkett and family of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Plunkett and family of Chippewa Falls and Timothy Plunkett of la Crosse; also Mr. and Mrs. George Grabara and family.

Thanksgiving Day guests at the Frank Pakiz home were Mrs. Olga Pakiz, Willard Scheuring, and Mr. and Mrs. David Pakiz and family of Superior.

Trudy and Judy Hill spent Thursday and Friday at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Truman Hill.

Mrs. Harlan Brux and Mrs. John Zepaltas, Sr., returned Sunday after a 10-day tour to Florida. They were met in Milwaukee by John, Jr., and James Zepaltas.

Norbert Friske attended a Tri-State Breeders meeting in Westby Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vollrath and Mrs. Elvera Fravert and family were guests last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Vollrath in Green Bay.

The 90th birthday of Mrs. Emma Reisner was observed December 5 at the Clark County Home for the Aged, where she resides.

Mrs. Alma Mason was brought by ambulance Sunday from the Marshfield Hospital to the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Longridge, to recuperate.

The Women’s Guild held their meeting and Christmas Party in Zion United Church Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Theodore Abel presided and welcomed the guests. Thank you notes were read from Mrs. A. H. Noetzel, 93, a former member who now resides at the Mobridge Manor, Mobridge, S. D. 57601, and also a note from Mrs. William Olson.

Christmas cards were signed by all present for former pastors’ families, Mrs. Alice Egbert of Abilene, Ks., and the Rev. David Logue family of Ottumwa, Ia.

The program included readings by Mrs. Abel, Mrs. Quentin Irvine and Mrs. Robert Schneider. The group sang Christmas carols with Mrs. Allen Dallman as accompanist. After the program, a lunch was served. Tables were decorated in the Christmas motif. Members donated cash for a Christmas gift for the Winnebago Children’s Home.

The next meeting will be held January 6. Hostesses will be Mrs. Robert Schneider and Mrs. Arthur Hendrickson. Mrs. William Kuester will be program chairman.
