Crockett, Verlin R. (14 May 1907 - 27 October 1971)

Funeral services for Verlin R. Crockett, 64, of Neillsville, who died October 27, were held Saturday, October 30, at 1 p.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. The Rev. Charles D. Brady officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. A Rosary service was held Friday evening at the Georgas Funeral Home, where the body of Mr. Crockett was in state.

Verlin Crockett, the son of Orington A. and Maude (Hanks) Crockett, was born May 14, 1907, in Clark County, where he received his education and spent his entire lifetime. He moved to Neillsville in 1941. His marriage to the former Ann Marie Falkner took place in Neillsville on May 13, 1961. Mr. Crocket was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Dittner of Gerber, Ca., Mrs. Melner (Ella) Hansen of Santa Paula, Ca., Mrs. Max (Irene) Opelt of Granton, Mrs. Avis Knobel of North Prairie and Mrs. Oakley (Eunice) Rhead of Millston; and four brothers, Allen Crockett of Neillsville, Daniel Crockett of Elko, Nv., Robert Crockett of Sacramento, Ca., and Ray Crockett of Gerber, Ca.

Pallbearers were: Jerry Opelt, Gilbert Crockett, John Opelt, Frank Falkner, Lowell Norrish and Jack Rhead. Mrs. Glenn Short was the organist. The choir of St. Mary’s sang.
