Wisconsin State Genealogical Society (Gene-A-Rama - 4/5 April 2014)

Registration forms with speaker information for the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society (WSGS) 2014 Gene-A-Rama are now available in the Black River Falls Public Library-Jackson County History Room. The two-day event will be held Friday and Saturday, April 4 and 5, and will b hosted by the Manitowoc County Genealogical Society and held at the holiday Inn in Manitowoc.

The event will feature Kay Scholtz of Neillsville. Scholtz will speak on “The Wisconsin Krueger Family Tragedy,’ her first published book. The book is an account of the tragic story of a family whose members were persecuted, murdered and thrown into prison during the WW I era, due in part to misunderstandings arising from their German Heritage.

Speaking on the conference theme; Genealogical Tools; Moving Your Research Forward, will be main presenter Lisa Alzo. Alzo is a freelance writer, instructor and internationally recognized lecturer, specializing in Slovak/Eastern European genealogical research, writing your family history and using the Internet to trace female and immigrant ancestors.

Other speakers include Grace Dumelle, author and researcher; George Findlen, CG, an Academic administrator who became a genealogist in retirement; Vickie Schnitzler, president of the WSGA and active researcher; and Edith Wagner, founder, publisher and editor of “Reunions” magazine and reunionsmag.com.
