Andrew Wasylko, age 90, of Gilman,
formerly of Lublin, passed away at the Gilman Care Center on Wednesday, February
5, 2014. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014,
at Holy Assumption Orthodox church in Lublin. Rev. Ted Wojcik officiated and
burial followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Wojcik, Gordy
Palms, Greg Rosiejka, Gerald Rosiejka, Mike Wasylko and Tyler Person. Visitation
was held at the church, on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
Andrew Wasylko was born on December 13, 1923, in Kenneburg, PA, the son of
John and Pearl (Kliscz) Wasylko. In October 1925, his family moved to rural
Lublin, WI, where Andrew was raised and educated. He was united in marriage to
Delores Galarowicz on July 13, 1963. Together they farmed in the Town of
Roosevelt until retiring in 1989. Delores passed away on April 6, 1995. After
retirement, Andrew remained active on the farm until suffering a stroke in
September 2011. He then entered the Gilman Care Center and has resided there
until the time of his death.
Andrew loved farming, doing field work,
cutting wood, and working with his son, Andy, driving around the countryside
picking up cattle. He also enjoyed getting together with his siblings every
hunting season and Thanksgiving holiday.
He is survived by one son, Andy
(Lisa) Wasylko of Lublin; one daughter, Pam Wasylko of Antigo; three
grandchildren: Jessica Riphenburg, Tyler Person, and Mike Wasylko; one
great-granddaughter, Eden Riphenburg; two brothers; Joe Wasylko of Addison, IL,
Frank (Mary) Wasylko of Rocky River, OH; two sisters: Ann Rosiejka of Rockton,
IL, Mary (Jeff) Green of Dresden, TN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends, and his faithful dog, “Mutzer.”
He was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Delores; and two brothers: John and Steve Wasylko.
