Hallanger, Harold M. (20 May 1940 - 15 February 2014)
Montello - Harold M. Hallanger, age 73, of Buffalo Township, passed away on
Saturday, February 15, 2014, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, the son of Harold and
Irene (Babbitt) Hallanger. He was married to Ingrid Lindquist on July 21, 1962.
Harold was a psychiatric social worker, graduating from the University of
Chicago in 1964, with his Master’s Degree. He was an administrator at the Clark
Co. Health Care Center in Owen, Wisconsin for 30 years, retiring in 1999. His
hobbies and interests were many and included farming, auctioneering, real
estate, painting, music, and country line-dancing. He was a member of the Zona
Gale Community singers. Harold had a great love of nature, enjoying hunting,
fishing, hiking and camping. Most of all he was a seeker of knowledge well-read
and continuously learning.
He is survived by his wife, Ingrid; three
children: Hans Douglas Hallanger, Hartland, WI, Bethel Leigh Hallanger, Madison,
and Charles Hugh Hallanger, Township of Buffalo; three grandchildren: Austin,
Ryleigh, and Kayla; his extended family and many friends. He was preceded in
death by his parents; his brother, Marvin; and his step-father, James Hanley.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at
Moundville Methodist Church, with the Rev. Julie Wilson officiating. Inurnment
will be in Moundville Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m.
until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the church.
In lieu of
flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Harold’s name.
The
Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
