Sonderegger, Jacob #2

Jacob Sonderegger, son of Jacob and Katharine
Sonderegger, was born May 6, 1890 in Berneck, Switzerland where he spent his
childhood and in 1906 was confirmed in the Reformed Church.
In 1908 he came
to the United States spending several years in southern Wisconsin and in 1915 he
came to Greenwood and bought a farm northeast of Greenwood which he sold later.
In May 1917 en entered the U.S. Army and served with Co. A, 53rd Infantry for fourteen months, eleven of which was spent overseas. Before returning to America he visited his parents and home land.
On September 20, 1820 he was united in marriage to Marta Beerli of Berneck,
Switzerland at Neillsville, and made their home on the farm he purchased 2 miles
east of Greenwood and have lived there ever since.
To this union were born
two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Kathryn) Wells and Martha.
Mr. Sonderegger passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield on Wednesday, October 27, 1943 at 2:00 p.m., following an operation which he underwent that morning for a skull fracture which he suffered several weeks before.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters, his aged mother and a brother
Fritz of Berneck, Switzerland; one sister, Mrs. Edwin (Nina) Hohl and a brother
William Sonderegger of Greenwood.
