Shanks, Albert #2 (02 APR 1868 - 03 JUL 1949)*

Albert Shanks, son of Hugh and Caroline Shanks, was born April 2, 1868 in the country 2 miles south of Greenwood that was then known as Shanktown. He lived here until at the age of 2 years when the family moved to La Crosse County where he lived for 11 years.

His mother passed away there and his father with the family moved back to Greenwood. Mr. Shanks worked in the logging camps in winter and later started painting with Ralph Hall and continued this work until illness which began in 1944 and he has been confined to his bed for the past 1 ½ years.

On April 26, 1899 he was united in marriage to Hattie M. Andrews and to this union were born two children, Arva, who passed away on December 19, 1934 and Mildred.
