Stabnow, Henry F. #2 (13 JUL 1860 - 13 NOV 1948)
Henry F. Stabnow, son of Siegfried and Augusta Stabnow, was born July 13, 1860
in North Freedom, Sauk County and passed away at the home of his son-in-law and
daughter Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Opdycke in Greenwood on Friday, November 13, 1948,
having reached the age of 88 years and 4 months.
He was united in marriage with Augusta Kleinschmidt at Honey Creek, Sauk County, Wisconsin on March 16, 1887 and they resided on a farm at Hecla, South Dakota. He was a member of the School Board of his township, Assessor for a number of years and served two terms in the State Legislature of South Dakota.
In the fall of 1901 the family moved to the Town of Warner where they resided for 1 ½ years, later moving to Greenwood where he lived until his death. He served two terms as Mayor, four years as a member of the City Council, two years as Assessor and two years as Supervisor of the City of Greenwood.
He was preceded in death by his wife who passed away August 4, 1933. He then
made his home with his daughter Mrs. John (Ester) Meng until 1943 when he went
to live with his daughter Mrs. Edgar (Eloda) Opdycke.
