Volk, Caroline #2 (10 SEP 1884 - 23 OCT 1950)

Caroline Wehrman, daughter of Fredrich and Mary Wehrman, was born September 10, 1884 in the Town of Warner. She was united in marriage to William Volk on November 19, 1910. No children were born to this union, but she and her sister, Mrs. Bertha Volk, raised two nieces, Mrs. Louis (Gladys) Tatalovich of West Allis and Virginia Wehrman of Greenwood.

She was baptized in 1884 by Rev. Veenker and confirmed on March 31, 1899 by Rev. Schmalz. Throughout her life she was a faithful member of the Reformed Church, active in the Ladies Aid and a Sunday School teacher for many years, also a member of the O.E.S.

She had been in ill health since last spring. She entered St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, for the second time on September 21 and passed away on Monday, October 23, 1950 at 5:30 p.m. having reached the age of 66 years, one month and 13 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died on June 21, 1932, her parents, one brother and one sister. She leaves to mourn two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Volk, Mrs. Gust (Mary) Abel and on brother Otto Wehrman, all of Greenwood; Mrs. Louis Tatalovich of West Allis and Virginia Wehrman of Greenwood.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 26th at the Volk home and at 2 p.m. at the Zion Reformed Church, Rev. B.M. Fresenborg officiated and she was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery. During the services Mrs. Ernest Elmer, Mrs. Daniel Olson and Miss Martha Horn sang “Sweetly Resting” and “Abide With Me” accompanied by Miss Jeanette Busch.

The pallbearers were nephews: Leo, Albert, Alvin, Arno and Art Wehrman and Steve Checky.

The flower girls were nieces: Mrs. Steve Checky, Misses Elsie and Marcella Abel and Ida Wehrman.

Those from away who attended the funeral were Leo, Arno and Ida Wehrman, Mr. & Mrs. Steve Checky, Milwaukee; Mrs. Vernon Mech, Mr. and Mrs. Art Wehrman and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wehrman and family, all of Loyal; Mrs. Irvin Hosely of Sparta; Mr. Wm. Gosse and son Melvin of Colby.
