pneumonia. The Rev. E.G. Pfeiffer conducted the rites and burial took place in
the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Volk was born at Ammerbach, Bavaria, Germany on Sept. 12, 1879, and was married on Nov. 2, 1906 to Bertha Wehrman. He had been a resident of Greenwood for the past 44 years, and was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge and of the Greenwood Commercial Club.
He came to the United States with his brother, John, when he was 13, settling immediately at Greenwood, where he learned the tailor’s trade from his brother, Jacob Volk, who died in 1912.
From 1912 on, he and another brother, William, were partners, continuing in business under the name of Volk Brothers until the death of William in June, 1932. He was leader of the Greenwood band for many years.
He had always enjoyed good health until a few days before his death, when a sudden attack of influenza developed into pneumonia.
Greenwood business places were closed during the funeral services. Pallbearers were Adolph Schwarze, C.J. Carter, Albert Schwarze, William Steiger, Adolph Meyer and W.E. Hubble. In charge of flowers were Mrs. William Steiger, Mrs. Albert Schwarze, Mrs. Louis Arbs, and Mrs. Fred Behrens.

Misses Ida and Alma Wehrman, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Volk, Allen, Wis.;
