Borchardt, Irene I. (Steidinger) (2 JAN 1928 - 17 JAN 2014)

Irene I. Borchardt, 86, Marathon, died Friday, January 17, 2014, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg. Rev. Philip Bogen will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Marathon Funeral Home.

Irene I. Borchardt, 86, Marathon, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born January 2, 1928 in the town of Rib Falls, daughter of the late Walter and Dora (Hoffmann) Steidinger. On February 8, 1950, she married Gerald Borchardt in the town of Hamburg. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2002.

Irene and her husband, Gerald, farmed on the Borchardt Home Farm for many years and then worked for Fromm Brothers in Hamburg. She retired from King Foods in the town of Maine. Irene was an active member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg.

Survivors include, two daughters, Geraldine (Gerald) Voigt, Hamburg and JoAnn Crum, Wausau; two sons, Roger (Patti) Borchardt, Hamburg and Dale (Sharon) Borchardt, Merrill; nine grandchildren; Heidi (Debbie Casper)Voigt, Shane (Lesley) Voigt, Haley (Greg) Ellenbecker, Renee (Scott) Krautkramer, Brad Borchardt, Kevin (Melissa) Borchardt, Alan (Ellie) Borchardt, Christine Borchardt and Jamie (Scott Haig) Borchardt; eight great grandchildren, Fletcher & Mackenzie Ellenbecker, Zack & Ethan Borchardt, Madalynn & Quinnlynn Borchardt, Natalie & Paige Voigt, and one sister-in-law, Marcella Steidinger, Marathon.

Besides her parents and husband, Gerald, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Craig Borchardt; and one son-in-law, Glenn Crum; brother, Harold Steidinger and brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Rosely Hanke.
