Prior, Mr. and Mrs. Ray ( 05 June 1907 - 04 June 1967)
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Prior of Loyal, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on
Sunday, June 4. The couple were married June 5, 1907 at Nunda, now Crystal Lake,
Illinois.
A dinner for forty-five was served by the Methodist Church at noon after the
couple and their children and families attended church services.
Relatives and friends gathered at the Prior home in the afternoon for a social
time.
Mrs. Prior donned a corsage of pink roses and daises, and her husband a
carnation boutonniere.
Ray Prior, son of Albert Prior and Julia Bartholomew Prior was born October 8,
1883, in the town of Sherman. He received his education at Loyal and before his
marriage he clerked in Wiric and Mulligan and Colby Stores in Loyal. He served
on the board of education for 26 years.
Mrs. Prior, the former Addie L. Colby, was born to Ora Colby and Emma Colby
February 8, 1887, in Nunda, now Crystal Lake, Illinois. She was educated there
and lived there until her marriage.
After their marriage the couple spent six years in Loyal and then 13 years in
Wauconda, Illinois, where they were in a general store. They then returned to
Loyal where they have lived the past 41 years. Mr. Prior is an insurance agent.
Mrs. Prior enjoys flowers and reading. They both enjoy good health and are
members of the Loyal Methodist Church.
The couple are parents of five children. They are Calvin R. Prior, Greenwood;
Mrs Edward R. (Ora Lee) Giese, Rice Lake; Normannnnnn H. Prior, Marshfield; Mrs.
Raymond (Muriel) Ewert, Crystal Lake, Illinois; and Robert K. Prior, Loyal.
There are 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
