Nelson, Margaret E. (Peterson) (21 DEC 1930 - 20 JAN 2014)
Margaret E. Nelson, 83, Rib Lake, died on Monday, Jan. 20 at Golden LivingCenter
in Rib Lake, where she had resided the past six months. A memorial service will
be held on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Rib Lake United Methodist Church, with Rev.
Kyochul Shin officiating.
Interment of her cremated remains will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake.
Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, Jake, Kaiti, Josh Niggemann, Doug
Niggemann Jr., Valerie and Kelly Polacek and Bill Nelson, and her
great-granddaughter, Alexa Gayle Niggemann.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of
the service.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with
arrangements.
The former Margaret Peterson was born on December 21, 1930 in Rib Lake to the
late Edward and Margaret (Schinker) Peterson. She attended Rib Lake Elementary
School and was a graduate of Rib Lake High School.
On June 27, 1953 in Medford, she married Roy L. Nelson, who preceded her in
death on March 4, 1993. She was a clerk at Schlais Clothing Store, worked at Gem
Products Shoe Factory and was a CNA at Golden LivingCenter, all in Rib Lake.
She was a member of Rib Lake United Methodist Church and its Ladies Aid. She
served on the Village of Rib Lake Board, Lakewood Credit Union Board, Election
Board, Lakeview Cemetery Board, Little Bohemia bowling leagues and Spirit Lake
horseshoe league, and she was a Boy Scout leader. She enjoyed her dogs, making
maple syrup, picking berries, traveling, cross country skiing, bowling, casinos,
fishing, playing horseshoes, the Green Bay Packers, and her family.
She is survived by her special friend, Ben Yanko of Rib Lake; two children, Gary
(Dorathy) Nelson and Debbie (Gary) Polacek, both of Rib Lake; a son-in-law, Doug
Niggemann of Wauconda, Ill.; two sisters, Pearl of California and Jean of
Arkansas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter,
Gayle Niggemann in 2011, and two sisters, Mary Jane and Ethel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the family for
future designation.
