Kleckner, Maynard Everett (9 Aug 1914 – 6 Aug 1916)
Maynard Everett Kleckner, the little son of Everett L. and Anna F. Kleckner, was
born in Neillsville, Aug. 9, 1914, and died Aug. 6, 1916 at the home of his
grandparents, Mayor and Mrs. Kleckner. He was taken to the hospital on the first
of May and has been sick ever since. Everything that could possibly be done for
him was done and it seemed at times that he was getting better. But the trouble
proved to be incurable. During the last week of his life he suffered intensely
and passed away Sunday afternoon with abscess on the liver.
Maynard was a bright, lovable little fellow and the sympathies of their many
friends go to the stricken parents and grandparents in their bereavement.
Sleep, little Maynard, sleep.
Not in thy cradle bed,
Not on thy Mother’s breast,
But with the quiet dead.
The mother gave in tears and pain
The flower she well did love,
She knew she would find it indeed again,
In the fields of light and love.
Oh, not in cruelty, not in wrath,
The reaper came that day,
“Twas an angel visited the green earth
And took the flower away.
