Mrs. Almira V. Delane, for many years prior to 1886, a resident of Neillsville, died at Portland, Ore., July 17, 1916, at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 25 days. Her death occurred suddenly, due to heart failure brought on by other complications, having suffered with nephritis for several years. The funeral was held in Portland on July 20, services being conducted by Rev. Staub, pastor of the Congregational Church, and the remains laid to rest in Greenwood, G.A.R. Cemetery, beside her husband, who died a little over a year ago.

In 1868 she married James Delane. In 1873 they moved to Neillsville where they built a home and blacksmith shop near the Catholic Church on the north side. At a Grand Old Army reunion in Neillsville on Oct. 9, 1880, Mr. Delane was injured by the premature firing of a cannon which necessitated the amputation of his right arm. In 1882 they opened the Delane Hotel, corner Fifth and Hewett, which they operated until 1890. In 1896 they moved to Spokane, Wash., and five years ago they moved to Portland. Although she had been an invalid for several years, she was always cheerful and had a host of friends. She is survived by three children, W.B. Delane, of Spray, Ore., May Price Delane of Astoria, Ore., and Mrs., J.A. (Daisy) Prudhomme of Portland, Ore., two grandchildren, Donald and Virginia Prudhomme, and one sister, Mrs. Edith Carpenter, Spokane, Wash., and one brother, Ernest Finney, of Spray, Ore.
