Edward Strangfeld, 83, of Neillsville died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at his
daughter’s home in Fall Creek.
Edward Joseph Strangfeld was born July 26, 1930, in LaSalle, IL, the son of
Joseph and Bertha (Sischo) Strangfeld. His family move to Christie when Ed was
young and he attended the Uncle Sam Grade School. In 1956, he enlisted into the
United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict in Alaska. After his
honorable discharge, he returned to work on the family farm. In 1960, Ed moved
to Milwaukee and worked at American Motors for five years. During this time, he
was united in marriage to Mary Davis in Milwaukee. After Ed had finished working
for American motors, they moved back to Neillsville, and he worked at
Weyerhauser and Rollohome in Marshfield before eventually being hired at the
Nelson Muffler Factory in Neillsville. Ed worked at Nelson for 30 years before
retiring.
Ed was a member of the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Since retiring he
has enjoyed traveling and collecting coins, but most of all he loved spending
time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by three daughters, Marie (Wayne) Greeler of Neillsville, Lori
Grabowski of Neillsville, and Melissa (Diane Sorensen) Phelps of Fall Creek; 12
grandchildren; one great grandson, Landon Parrot; a brother, Raymond (Carol)
Strangfeld of Strum; and his wife, Kelly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Lynn Ann; his parents;
and a sister, Virginia Deacon.
Funeral services for Edward will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the
United Church of Christ. Pastor Jacoba Koppert will officiate. Music will be
provided by Karen Mohr, organist. Interment will be in the Marie Louise Chapel
Cemetery in Christie, with military honors conducted by the Neillsville
Veteran’s Council. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the
church.
Honorary Casketbearers are his grandchildren, Megan Greeler, Mekayla Phelps,
Nathaniel Phelps, Vincent Grabowski, Venessa Grabowski, Katrenia Grabowski, Tara
Parrott and Derrick Phelps.
Casketbearers are: Diane Sorensen, Wayne Greeler, Elizabeth Greeler, Joshua
Grabowski and Zachary Grabowski.
