Koepl, Francis J. “Frank” (30 April 1927 - 27 February 2014) With Flag

Francis J. “Frank” Koepl Sr., age 86, of the Town of Edson, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at the Oakbrook Health & Rehab Center, Thorp. Frank was born April 30, 1927, at home, where he resided all of his life, to the late Francis & Petronella (Marion) Koepl. Frank grew up in the Edson area, attending area schools. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and was later a member of the Boyd American Legion. On October 25, 1955, he was united in marriage to Rose Konwinski at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp. Frank worked doing auto repair and was a mechanic for the Studebaker Garage, Honstad’s Implement, Thorp Implement, and Dave Mohr Repair, right into his retirement. Frank was known as “the guy that could fix anything,” always loving his International Harvester Tractors. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, grilling chicken, and going fishing, winter or summer.

Frank is survived by his wife, Rose, of the Town of Edson; and his 11 children: Bonnie (James, sr.) Kroeplin, Judy Tate, peter (Christine) Koepl, Leonard Koepl, Barbara (Ken) Hagenson, Mary (Dan) Madison and Tami (Del, Jr.) Kroeplin, all of Stanley, Christine (John) Ketterhagen and Susan (Dan) Mast, both of Cadott, Diane Koepl of Chippewa Falls, Francis Jr. (Elvira) of Delafield; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Henrietta Moeller of Dyer, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Pauline Nondorf.

Services were held on Monday, March 3, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley, with Fr. William Felix officiating, and the Boyd American Legion Post #326 performing Military Rites afterwards. Visitation was held on Sunday evening from 4 - 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at the Plombon Funeral Home, Stanley. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
