Baldeschwiler, Gertrude Susan (5 March 1923 - 24 February 2014)
Gertrude Susan Baldeschwiler (nee Kulig), died on Monday, February 24, 2014, in
Stevens Point, WI. She was born in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin on March 5, 1923, to
Dr. and Mrs. Adelbert Kulig. The family moved to Thorp, WI where she grew up and
graduated from high school with a group of friends who stayed in close touch
over the years no matter where they were living. Gertrude was a Registered
Nurse, a graduate of the University of Minnesota Bachelor of Science program,
and last worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Baldeschwiler, in 2006; and two
sisters: Irene Horvath (Peter) and Ruth Pond (Frederick).
She is survived by her son, Thomas (Susan), Stevens Point, WI, her daughter, Lyn
Dodson (James) Farmington Hills, MI; and four granddaughters: Erin, Amanda,
Courtney and Elizabeth. She will be missed by her family and everyone who knew
her as a quirky, inquisitive, avid reader who was often referred to as
“Pollyanna” because of her readiness to always see the cup as half full.
The family would especially like to thank Lorie, Jamie, Jenny, and Carese of
Heartland Hospice, and Marcia McDonald and the caring staff of Emeritus at
Oakridge.
Per her request, there will be no services other than a private burial at St.
Bernard Cemetery in Thorp, WI in the spring.
