Fitzmaurice, Gerald G. (15 January 1919 - 7 January 1972)

Funeral services for Gerald G. Fitzmaurice, 52, of Humbird, who died January 7 at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Tomah, were held Tuesday, January 11, at 2 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home, Neillsville. The Rev. Harold Kirkpatrick of Fairchild officiated and burial was made in the Mentor Cemetery.

Gerald Fitzmaurice, the son of John and Annie (Sties) Fitzmaurice, was born January 15, 1919, at Humbird. He was educated in Humbird schools and worked in various places as a young man. Mr. Fitzmaurice enlisted in military service on December 5, 1941, at Janesville and served overseas as a Tec/5 at General Hospital No. 297 in London, England. He was discharged at Camp McCoy on November 25, 1945.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Annie Fitzmaurice of Memorial Home; and four brothers, David Fitzmaurice of Avalon, Jake and James Fitzmaurice of Neillsville and Phillip Fitzmaurice of Humbird.

Pallbearers were Mr. Fitzmaurice’s nephews, Thomas, Phillip, Jr., Daniel, Jeffery and Rick Fitzmaurice and Bob Dobson. Mrs. Alice Gehring and Mrs. James Trachsel sang “Rock of Ages and “Ivory Palaces”. They were accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

Those from out of town who attended the services included David Fitzmaurice, Thomas Fitzmaurice and Miss Betty Fitzmaurice, all of Avalon; Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Fitzmaurice, Phillip, Jr., and Daniel Fitzmaurice, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dobson, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fitzmaurice, Kathy Fitzmaurice, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Fitzmaurice and Helen Fitzmaurice, all of Humbird; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jinkerson of Fairchild and and Mrs. George Michels and Geraldine Wilkerson of Alma Center.
