Syring, Genevieve T. (Wimmer) (19 SEP 1925 - 8 OCT 2008)
On Wednesday October 8, 2008 Genevieve Theresa (Wimmer) Syring of Knowlton, 83,
was reunited with Richard her husband of over 50 years.
Genevieve was born September 19, 1925 to the late Henry and Amelia (Wolfe)
Wimmer of Marathon. She graduated from Marathon High School class of 1943. She
was an active member of Saint Francis Xavier parish of Knowlton for over 20
years, prior to that she was a member of Saint Anne's Parish of Wausau.
Genevieve married Richard August 19, 1946. Together they are survived by all six
of their children. Patricia Beilke, Romeoville, IL; Allen (Paulette) Syring,
Wausau; Steven (Sandy) Syring, Aurora CO; Roger Syring, Joliet, IL; Jeffery
Syring, Schofield; Jean Matsche, Wausau. 14 grandchildren, 2 adopted
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Antoinette Beranek, Wausau,
Agnes Towle, Fort Atkinson, Audrey Messenger, Yuma, AZ, Jerome Wimmer, Wausau,
Henry (Sarah) Wimmer, Aurora, IL, and Wilfred (Ann) Wimmer, Milwaukis, OR.
She is preceded in death by her husband Richard (2002), granddaughter Megan, and
numerous brothers and sisters.
Genevieve was an avid flower and vegetable gardener. Gen and Dick enjoyed
spending time together on mini vacations to casinos. Gen continued to enjoy this
activity after Dick's passing with relatives and friends. When Mother Nature
would not allow Gen to enjoy outdoor gardening, she loved completing intricate
jigsaw puzzles.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 at the
Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Entombment will
be in Garden of Eternal Rest, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302
6th Street, Wausau, and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services
at the church. There will be a rosary service 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
