Davis, Leland “Popcorn” (19 March 1887 - 23 January 1972)

Funeral services for Leland “Popcorn” Davis, 84, of Memorial Home, who died January 23, were held Tuesday, January 25, at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Windfall Cemetery at Granton.

Leland Davis, the son of Rice and Mary (Ober) Davis, was born March 19, 1887, at Granton. He was educated in Clark County schools and worked as a mechanic in garages at Granton and Neillsville. Mr. Davis, who was employed by the Clark County Highway Department and by the city of Neillsville for many years, resided at Memorial Home for the past six years.

His marriage to the former Essie J. Hart took place March 9, 1907, at Osseo. She died October 2, 1968.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Minerva Viergutz of Neillsville, Mrs. Herbert (Hazel) Stevens of Bruce and Mrs. Elizabeth Gullickson of White Bear Lake, Mn; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: George Frei, Pete Ludovic, Ervin Foemmel and Lawrence McKevitt, Sr.

Attending the services from out-of-town were Mrs. Betty Gullickson and daughter, Patricia, of White Bear Lake, MN.
