St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, was the scene of the wedding of Miss
Sharon Poehnelt, Loyal and LaVerne Volovsek, route 2, Greenwood, on Saturday,
June 17.
The Very Rev. Norbert E. King officiated at the 1 p.m. nuptial High Mass and the
church choir sang for the occasion.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Poehnelt, Loyal and Mr. and Mrs.
Stanley Volovsck, Greenwood.
The bride given in marriage by her father wore a floor length gown of Peau de
soie and lace with full skirt and completed by a chapel train of tiers of lace
and peau de soie attached at the waistline. Her bouffant illusion veil was
attached to a lace and floral cluster headpiece trimmed with pearls and whe
carried a cascade arrangement of red roses and swansonia.
Miss Renee Poehnelt, Loyal, was the maid of honor and Miss Peggy Volovsek,
Greenwood; Miss Barbara Volovsek, Willard; and Miss Lois Mattes, Minneapolis,
Minnesota; were the bridesmaids.
The attendants dresses were green floor length sheaths of chiffon over taffeta
with empire waistlines and pleated bell sleeves. They wore matching floral
cluster headpieces with pouf veils and carried colonial bouquets of yellow
carnations with yellow ribbon streamers.
Miss Terri Poehnelt was the flower girl. She donned a white floor length sheath
of chiffon over taffeta with an empire waistline and pleated bell sleeves and a
matching floral cluster headpiece with pouf veil.
Jack Volovsek, Greenwood, was best man and Jerome Poehnelt, Loyal, Albert
Wieregalia, Cudahy; and Richard Forbee, Elroy the groomsmen. Duane Poehnelt and
Edward Volovsek, were the ushers.
A reception was held at Loyal Amusements followed by a supper in the church
dining hall and dance that evening at thee silver Dome.
The bride is a 1965 graduate of Loyal High School and has been employed at the
Marshfield Clinic. Her husband is enrolled at the University of Wisconsin. After
a wedding trip to the Black Hills the couple will reside at 2211 Woodview Court,
apartment 11, Madison.
