Neuman, Paul (20 Oct 1949 – 29 July 1967)
Funeral services were held here on Wednesday for Paul Neuman, 17, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Neuman of Loyal. Paul was fatally injuredSaturday night, when a
pickup truck he was in was struck by a Soo Line freight train in Thorp. Another
youth, John Brunkhorst, 16, of Abbotsford was also fatally injured.
Both of the young men suffered severe burns with Paul also suffering a severe
head injury. The authorities at the scene of the accident reported that it was
their belief that Paul was killed instantly. The Brunkhorst youth died at the
hospital in Stanley, shortly aftermidnight, from the burns he received.
A wake service was held on Tuesday night for Paul Neuman at the Myre Funeral
Home in Loyal. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. N. E. King, at St.
Anthony’s Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday. Burial was made in the
church cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Andraska, Bruce Bremer, Dennis Schultz, Mark Roth, Allan
Roder, and Jerry Rollins.
Paul R. Neuman was born October 20, 1949 at Marshfield, and had lived in Loyal
all his life. He was a 1967 graduate of the Loyal High School, and had been
employed at Davel’s Grocery.
He is survived by his parents, three brothers, Jerry. In the Air Force in Viet
Nam; Jan, im the Air Force at Travis Air Force Base, California; Jack, in the
Air Force in Al;aska; three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Jean) Croman, Mr. Holly, New
Jersey; Mrs. Allan (Karen) Harder, Kenosha; Mrs. Robert (Kay) Schlagenhaft,
Loyal; and his maternal grandfather, Arnold Luepke, Marshfield.
