Thede, Verna E. (Syring) (13 AUG 1929 - 3 FEB 2014)
Verna E. Thede, age 84, of Abbotsford, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014,
at Golden Living Center-Continental Manor in Abbotsford.
Verna was born on August 13, 1929 in the Town of Frankfort, Marathon County, the
daughter of Herman and Hattie (Totsch) Syring. She attended Fairchild School and
graduated from Colby High School.
On April 23, 1949, Verna was united in marriage to Vilas Thede at Zion Lutheran
Church in Colby. Together they farmed in the Town of Colby for 35 years. They
retired in 1984 and moved to Abbotsford. After retirement, she worked as a
housekeeper for a several families for many years until her health declined.
Verna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Verna enjoyed tending to her
vegetable garden and reaping the harvest. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.
Verna is survived by her husband of 64 years, Vilas of Abbotsford; her brother,
Rueben (Arabella) Syring of Edgar; her sister, Irene Hanne of Colby; her
sister-in-law, Ellen Syring of Marshfield; many nieces, nephews other relatives
and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Clarence Syring and her
sister, Milda Ramker.
The family requests memorials to be designated to Zion Lutheran Church.

A Funeral Service will was held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. The Rev. Mark Neumann officiated. Burial was held in Colby Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends were welcomed from 10:00 AM until time of services Thursday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
