Edwin was born on September 7, 1924 in the Town of Wien to Lawrence and Anna (Laack)
Borchardt and attended Briggs School in the Town of Wien. He married Darleen C.
Woldt on August 21, 1948 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fenwood. The couple
was blessed to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with their family in
August 2013.
The Borchardts farmed in the Town of Wien for 30 years and Ed also worked at
several mobile home factories. They moved to Abbotsford in 1975 and Ed worked as
a self employed carpenter.
Ed and Darleen found fulfillment in working with the Laborers for Christ,
helping with 11 church construction projects. They moved to Marshfield in 1992
where Ed worked part-time at Menard's until retiring in 2006. Ed served as an
elder in the Lutheran church and sang in the men's choir. Faith and family were
important to him. His hobbies included wood working, particularly carving wooden
chains for all his family members, playing cards (he almost always won!) and
working on puzzles.
He is survived by his wife Darleen and their children, Dennis (Mary) Borchardt
of Wausau, Steven (Linda) Borchardt of Rib Lake, Larry (Esther) Borchardt of
Mosinee, Gail (Allen) Jicinsky of Spencer, and Edwin (MaryLynn) Borchardt, Jr.
of Henning, MN. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great
grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, Arthur in infancy and Lester, and
2 sisters, Erna Paulson and Esther Stroetz. Condolences may be sent online to
