Ploog, Elmer W. (3 MAR 1932 - 14 FEB 2014)

Elmer W. Ploog, 81, of Cumberland died Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.

He was born March 3, 1932, in Granton, WI, to Henry and Lillie (Nieman) Ploog. Elmer was married in Caledonia, MN, on October 23, 1954, to Arvilla "Honey" Lutz who preceded him in death on November 16, 2003.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, Harry, Fred, Ralph, Roy and Virgil, 1 sister, Betty Ploog and 1 son-in-law, James Loomis.

Elmer worked for Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Company for 32 years and retired at age 58. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and collector of many things. Elmer will be remembered by his family and friends as a very loving, honest, hardworking man who always made sure that his family was taken care of. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Lorelee (Robert) Tomczik of Barron, WI; 3 grandchildren, Shannon Campbell (Corey Yeske), Melissa (Duane) Swonger and Ryan Tomczik (Maria Pfeifer); 11 great-grandchildren, James Ellis, Joshua, Mara, Seth and Breanna Campbell, Alexa Damman, Kylee Welter, Logan Swonger and Haley, Kelsey and Casey Yeske; 1 brother, Ervin (Jan) Ploog and 2 sisters, Wilma Boulieu and Anna Schnabel, all of Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, February 20, 2014, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Turtle Lake, WI, with Father Tom Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Cumberland, WI. Military honors accorded by Anderson-Thomson Post #98 American Legion. Pallbearers are Robert Tomczik, Ryan Tomczik, Duane Swonger, Corey Yeske, Josh Campbell and Seth Campbell.

Honorary pallbearer is Logan Swonger. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the Skinner Funeral Home, Turtle Lake, WI and one hour prior to service on Thursday at the church.www.skinnerfh.com 800-822-8535.
