Oestreich, Sharon (06 Dec 1941 – 04 Aug 19670

Mrs. Richard D. Oestreich, 25, route 1, Loyal, mother of two small sons, and expecting the birth of a third child, was fatally injured onFriday, August 4, shortly after 8 p.m., when a car driven by her husband was involved in a collision with a truck at the intersection of Clark County Highways H and K, about 5 miles south of here.

She was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Joseph’s Hospital from head and other injuries suffered.

Her husband was not seriously injured and was released from the hospital after observation and treatment.

The driver of the truck was Floyd L. Nelson, Route 1, Fairchild, who escaped injuries.

The Clark County authorities said the truck was eastbound on Highway H. After entering the intersection it struck the Oestreich car on the right side and shoved it into the ditch. Oestreich and his wife were thrown from the car, while the truck continued across the intersection, through a ditch and into a field before coming to a stop.

There is a stop sign on H to halt traffic through the intersection at this particular point. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if the truck had stopped before entering the intersection.

The Oestreichs were traveling south on Highway K enroute to the Clark County Fair at Neillsville when the crash occurred.
