Robert H. Dillenbeck, 65, Neillsville, died on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at his home. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Military honors were conducted by the Neillsville Veterans Council.

Robert Henry Dillenbeck was born on Dec. 19, 1948, in Greenwood, the son of Harold Albert and Margaret Lydia (nee Einfeldt) Dillenbeck Sr. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1967. Bob was a naturally talented athlete who played football and basketball very well in high school and went on to play football for UW-Stevens Point. In 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. When he returned to the states in 1971, he went to work logging with Dave Volovsek. In 1977, Bob started his own logging company which he still worked to this day. Bob loved everything about the outdoors, including hunting, and always made sure he was respectful of the environment. Bob married Denise James in 1973 in Delavan. Together they had two children. Bob loved to coach Little League while his kids were growing up. He was known for his wonderful gift of patience. Bob was an exceptional carpenter and made many detailed doll houses and numerous gifts for family and friends. He also built two of his own homes, of which he was very proud. Bob was a quietly caring man but also had a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy.

Bob is survived by a son, Robert (Holly) Dillenbeck, Mosinee; a daughter, Jeni (Mark) Lezotte, Menasha; four grandchildren, Brooklyn and Logan Dillenbeck and Grace and Owen Lezotte; his siblings, Carole (Del) Toburen, Greenwood, Roger Dillenbeck, Eau Claire, Chuck (Marge) Rondorf, West Bend, Joanne (Ron) Henchen, Eau Claire, Jim (Sue) Dillenbeck, La Crosse, Harold (Kathy) Dillenbeck, Greenwood, Rick (Joy) Dillenbeck, Schulenburg, Texas, and Deb (Skeeter) Larson, Marshfield; his father-in-law, Arden Reum, Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
