Martha Elizabeth Noeldner was born on Sept. 12, 1918, in the town of Loyal, rural Greenwood, the daughter of Ernst and Margaret (nee Haessig) Noeldner. She was raised on the family farm, received her education at Seidelman School, attended Loyal High School and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1936. Martha attended the Teacher's College in Neillsville, and graduated in 1937. She then worked as a substitute teacher in Clark County area schools until 1946. Martha married Erwin H. Dux on June 12, 1940, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. She and her husband farmed until 1975 and then moved into Loyal. Martha went to work at Kehrberg's Variety Store, in Loyal, until its closing in 1991. In their retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, California, the Smokey Mountains and Niagara Falls. Her husband, Erwin, died on Sept. 17, 1996. Martha continued living in Loyal until the time of her death. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, and was active in Adult Fellowship and the TLCW for many years. She was a member of the Circle 8 Square Dancing Club and a member of the Clark County Homemakers. She had many interests, but especially loved her church, spending time with family and friends, singing, square dancing, gardening, flowers, sewing, quilting, and writing poetry.
